CC BOTSWANA PROGRAM
POWERED BY COACHING CONSERVATION

SUPPORTED BY: Tusk Trust, Chitabe Camp, and National Geographic
DIRECTOR: Lesley McNutt, FACILITATOR: Tjipo Keaikitse

With the Southern African CC development initiatives in place, 2019 was a year to focus our attention on the Botswana program and re-establish CC in Botswana as the cornerstone of our operation – cementing it’s position as an international active learning resource for conservation education and life mentoring.

We have been busy designing new curricula, updating our monitoring and evaluation protocols for impact reporting, exploring new avenues for fiscal sustainability, and streamlining our educational material within the new brand framework.

We welcomed Tjipo Keaikitse to the Botswana team as Program Facilitator, and she has begun coordinating our efforts to reach every child in senior primary school in Northern Botswana by 2021 (an estimated 8200 children annually).

CC Botswana continued its collaboration with Natural Selection Safaris and forged a new partnership with the National Geographic Society (NGS). CC hosted Chandana Chasti, lead for NGS’s global education department, who came to participate in a 5 day training and delivery program in Khwai Private Reserve with Khwai community kids. Chandana’s goal was to gain a better insight into our program to inform and support our combined CC, NGS and Gorgogoza National Park initiative that was also initiated in 2019.

2019 also saw the return of our Maun kids’ program and the reopening of CC’s Education Center in partnership with Matshwane Primary School.
